It’s been a minute! or two?! Creating content has taken over us! We’ve been concentrating on working on our personal brand these past few months and we’ve been getting great feedback on our consistency. Working with new clients and recollaborating with past clients. Creating is what’s keeping us busy these days. Hope the start of Summer is treating you well!
We both love Fashion and creating together. But my love for Fashion grew more when I went to Fashion school. It took me years after highschool before I decided to go back to school and pursue a career in Fashion. I always knew I love fashion but didn’t know where to start as I hated school and didn’t want to force myself and go to a university and just take random classes that won’t benefit me in the future. I found out about this amazing fashion schoool and applied right away. I graduated from John Casablancas Institue of Creative Arts with a Business and Creative Arts Degree. It really did reinforced my strong interest in Fashion.
My family will attest to how I hated school growing up. My mom would always nag me about homework. I will tell her that I finsihed my homework but go home with a fat “0”. Attending JCI taught me that consistency and persistency goes hand in hand. It is an extreme 10-month course, I can’t miss a single class coz I will be pretty much missing a whole chapter of a course, 3 missed class is an equivalent of an expulsion.
I experienced countless sleepless nights to finish my homework. I had to quit my office job after three months as the classes and the class workload became more intense after the first quarter. I graduated on top of my class and months later received the Award of Excellence for all the graduating class of year 2008-2009. All the extra shot of espressos were all worth it in the end!
Aside from the Fashion Business program they also offer programs for Fashion Design, Make-up Artistry, Hair Art Design, Body Spa Esthetics, Fashion and Beauty Make-up.
Makeup Artistry “is a ten-month, full-time program, students gain a comprehensive understanding of makeup artistry-form everyday beauty to nightmare-inducing special effects.”
Hair Art Design “is a six-month, hands-on program. An innovative, fresh approach, JCI and AXIS training Systems were the first to launch a program that considered the future of hair.”
Fashion Business & Creative Arts “is a ten-month program that covers a wide spectrum of the Fashion Industry. Each course within the program consists of interactive lectures, in-class discussions and practical assignments.”
Body Esthetics “is a 44-weeks long, and is one-of-a-kind in professional spa training, encompassing basic and advanced spa services. By the end of the program, they will be spa-ready, projecting professionalism and confidence when it comes to every spa service in the book.”
Fashion Design “is a 26-week program consists of in-depth theory, practical knowledge, additional open lab time and hands-on, creative projects. Providing students with the most advanced and relevant curriculum, while training in an environment that’s similar to a real fashion design company.“
These classes are all hands-on to gain confidence and prepare students to have a professional career after graduating. The knowledge I gained when I was still in school exceeded more than what I expected. I learned so much from all the awesome Instructors. They were all so patient and understanding of our individual needs. They are also all experts in their field, like my Fashion Design Insructor is also a known Designer.
In-depth learning of Fashion History, Store Concept Planning, Marketing, Fashion Illustration, and Styling, just to name a few of the classses. If you want to open your own store, the Fashion Business program can definitely benefit you. It can also give you an idea of which career path you want to take after graduation. May it be a Stylist or an Illustrator or any other fashion related career you want to pursue.
I personally love meeting the industry leaders that came to our class to talk about their journey in the industry. All the field trips we did was so fun! This happened a decade ago and I bet they have enhanced classes and field trips now. Just a little bit jealous of that, maybe its time to visit John Casablancas Institute to see these changes.
